Brussels sprout salad with pomegranate and how to peel a pomegranate

Pane-bistecca
Brussels sprout salad with pomegranate and how to peel a pomegranate, since not everyone knows how to do it without a making a mess. These fruits are not always easy to peel, but there are a few tricks I can share with you here.

This is a wonderful and unusual salad that is sure to be a highlight of any buffet! It has many rather unusual ingredients that go together wonderfully, and the sauce gives it an Asian flair.

What I find so funny is that you can use any type of cabbage as a salad, so I thought, why not Brussels sprouts? It’s amazing how good and refreshing they taste! The pomegranate seed topping is really great; you can use these seeds for so many things. They also add a splash of color to any dish! I served the salad with grilled meat and there was hardly anything left.

Ingredients

  • 2 Pomegranates

  • 500 g Brussels Sprouts

  • 100 g Bacon

  • 100 g Almond Slices

  • 50 g grated sharp Cheddar

  • Dressing

  • 4 tbsp Mayonnaise

  • 2 tbsp Apple Vinegar

  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce

  • 1/2 tsp Sugar

  • 1/2 tsp Salt

  • 3 Garlic cloves

  • 1 Handful Peanuts

  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil

  • 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds

  • Chili Flakes

  • some Water

Instructions

1

Step 1

Pomegranates are divided into 5 sections. Cut off the top of the pomegranate, then cut the fruit into 5 wedges along the 5 sections.
2

Step 2

Break open the pods in a bowl of cold water and the seeds will more or less fall out by themselves. The white skins that stick to the seeds will then float to the top and can be easily skimmed off. You can also tap the pods with the handle of a knife; this method also works but is a little more difficult.
3

Step 3

Drain the kernels in a sieve and store them in containers in the refrigerator or freezer until ready to use.
4

Step 4

For the salad, wash the Brussels sprouts and then cut them into thin strips.
5

Step 5

Chop the bacon into small pieces and fry until crispy. Allow to cool briefly.
6

Step 6

Puree the ingredients for the dressing in a blender, except for the water. Only add the water if the sauce is too thick.
7

Step 7

Mix the salad ingredients together, add the dressing, mix well, and serve with fried Lotus chips .
