Oven-baked Meatballs

Pane-bistecca
Oven-baked meatballs are very popular in our house. There are many recipes for them, and I think everyone makes them their own way. In Italy, they are served with Tomato sauce. This is also the case in Greece, India, and Pakistan, where they are served with Curry sauce, in America they serve them in a Bun and in Turkey they are barbequed.
There are many variations of Meatballs.

Since I didn’t want to use a lot of oil, I baked the rolls in the oven this time. They turn out really well, this method works great, and you can also serve them as finger food. They become firmer than when you cook them in a pan, and it’s also much less work. For my next party, I’m going to make them very small and serve them as finger food with sweet chili sauce!

Nevertheless, I served it with a cream sauce and mashed potatoes, because that’s a tradition with my men!

Ingredients

  • 600 g ground Beef

  • 200 g ground Pork

  • 2 Slices whole wheat Toast bread, torn and soaked in milk

  • 2 Eggs

  • 1 Bunch Parsley, chopped

  • 2 Garlic cloves, chopped

  • Salt and Pepper

  • Chili flakes

  • Rosemary

  • Paprika

  • 2 tbsp Oil

  • Sauce

  • 100 ml White Wine

  • 100 ml Cream

  • 100 ml Sour Cream

  • Salt and Pepper

  • Paprika

  • Chili

Instructions

1

Step 1

Knead all ingredients for the meatballs together well. I use disposable gloves for this and then roll small balls out of the mixture.
2

Step 2

Tip: You can now roll them in a little breadcrumbs to make them crispy!
3

Step 3

Grease an ovenproof dish with 2 tablespoons of oil, roll the balls in it, and place them in the dish.
4

Step 4

Bake in the oven at 180°C for about 20 minutes, then turn them over and bake for another 20 minutes. If you want them really dark, turn them over again and bake for another 10 minutes on both sides.
5

Step 5

Place the ingredients for the sauce in a small saucepan and bring to a boil, then pour over the meatballs. Serve hot, preferably with mashed potatoes!

Notes

You can leave out the sauce and serve the meatballs with a salad.
