Banana Lumpia

Banana Lumpia Dessert from the Philippines

Pane-Bistecca
My Filipina friend Lucille taught me a Filipino dessert. Lumpia are something like spring rolls, but they are filled differently than the Chinese ones. I have to admit, I like the Filipino ones much better! Here is a sweet variation of these lumpias, filled with banana, but you can also use mango.

They are traditionally served with chocolate sauce and ice cream. They taste great! This recipe is for Culinary world travel from Volkermampft eingetragen.

Ingredients

  • 5 Bananas, cut in half lengthwise

  • 10 Lumpia wrappers (you could also use the Chinese ones)

  • 150 g dark Chocolate

  • Vanilla Ice-cream

  • Sunflower Oil

Instructions

1

Step 1

Pull the lumpia sheets from each other, they are very elastic, so do not worry!
2

Step 2

Lay out a sheet on a work surface, put half the banana on the very front and now roll it up very tightly. Brush the edges of the lumpia sheet with cold water to stick them together.
3

Step 3

Heat the oil in a shallow pan and fry the lumpias in it until dark.
4

Step 4

Meanwhile, melt the chocolate in a water bath. Serve the bananas lumpia still warm with chocolate sauce and ice cream.
