Tocanita de Vita – Rumänisches Rinder Gulasch – Romanian Beef Stew

2 Mins read

Tocanita de Vita is a fine beef goulash from Romania. It is a popular dish, especially in the colder months. You can make it with beef like I do, but it is also often cooked with lamb. It is cooked with tomatoes and capsicum, which gives it a super flavour. The recipe takes part in Volkermampft’s Culinary World Tour, which travels to Romania this month.

Tocanita de Vita

Für 4 Personen:
800 g Rindfleisch Würfel für Gulasch
2 EL Olivenöl
2 Zwiebeln, gehackt
3 Knoblauchzehen, gehackt
1 rote Peperoni, in schmale Streifen geschnitten
2 grosse Tomaten, gehackt
100 ml Rotwein
2 TL Paprika
Salz und Pfeffer
3 EL Tomatenmark
Etwas gehackte Petersilie

2 large Tomatoes, chopped
100 ml Red Wine
2 tsp paprika
Salt and Pepper

Heat the oil in a pan and add the meat, season very well! Fry until it is brown all over. Add the chopped onions and garlic cloves and fry for 5 minutes. Then deglaze with the wine and add the capsicum and tomatoes, then the tomato purée. Mix well and simmer, covered, for about 90 minutes. (I also added a little sour cream at the end) At the end, sprinkle chopped parsley on top and serve with polenta.
