Marinated Tofu

Pane-Bistecca
Marinated tofu – simple and very good!

I’ve never really been a fan of tofu. Why? Because for a while in Switzerland in the early 80s, everything was replaced with tofu because it was supposed to be so much healthier than meat. I remember how my then future mother-in-law put schnitzel on the table, which had nothing to do with schnitzel at all. It was bland, weird and not edible for me. Tofu, she called it. Schnitzel substitute… horrible! Nobody ate it!

Since then I have avoided tofu…. until I started eating it in Chinese restaurants here in Hong Kong. I was hesitant to try it and I have to admit, I really like it cooked like this! I’ve tried several variations at home and this one tastes really good!
