Asian Christmas Jam

Asian Christmas Jam

Pane-Bistecca
People also like fine jam at Christmas and when it’s homemade, it’s even better! This Asian Christmas jam is made with fruit that is readily available and affordable here in Asia. That’s why I used mangoes and oranges, a type of orange that was dark, almost grapefruit-like, but not bitter. The result was a bright orange, very fine jam. I filled them into jars and labeled them, as they will be given away as a table gift at a Christmas lunch.

Ingredients

For 20 small Gift Jars:

  • 8 Oranges

  • 2 Lemons

  • 12 Mangos

  • 1 tsp Cardamom

  • 4 Cinnamon Sticks

  • 2 kg Sugar

  • 400 g brown Sugar

Instructions

1

Be aware!

The fruits yielded about 1.7kg of pulp for me.
2

Preparation

Skin the mangos and cut the pulp from the stone. Add the zest of 2 oranges. Then peel all the oranges and add the orange pulp to the mangos in the pot. Add the juice of the two lemons.
3

Cook

Also add the spice and bring it to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes, then add the sugar and let everything cook for 10 minutes.
4

Lastly

Remove the spice and puree the rest. Let cook for another 10 minutes, check if the jam thickened. Immediately pour into clean jars and close tightly.

Notes

Add a nice etiquette and give away as gift!
