Pasticcio – Italian Pasta Dish
One can ask where this dish originates, as it is also well known in Greece (pastitsio), Egypt (makarōna beshamelمكرونة بشاميل), Cyprus, Malta (timpana) and Turkey (fırında makarna. Of course, each country makes it with some regional differences. My Pasticcio is very simple and very Sicilian!
Ingredients
350 g Pasta, for example Penne, Macaroni, wide Noodles
400 g ground Beef (if you want it more spicy use the raw Italian sausages)
1 Dose Pelati/Tomatoes
450 g Tomato Sauce
3 tbsp Tomato Paste
1 Onion, chopped
3 Garlic cloves, chopped
1 Carrot, diced
50 g Butter
4 tbsp Flour
500 ml Milk
Salt and Pepper
Paprika
Italian Herbs
Nutmeg
Chili flakes
1 Handful Parmesan
some Olive Oil
2 Mozzarella Balls (Optional)
100 g Parmesan
