Quick Cheese Tarte with Ham Bacon or Onion

When I have leftover cheese, I like to make a cheese tart with it. This quick cheese tart with ham bacon or onions shows you how you can make it with lots of different ingredients without too much effort.

You need a dough; I often use puff pastry as it goes very well with hearty pastries. Then of course cheese, you can be very creative! And you can add other ingredients, such as ham, bacon, onions, garlic, tomatoes, capsicum, spinach… As you can see, you can add an incredible amount of different ingredients.

Ingredients

For a baking tin approx. 18 cm in diameter:

  • 200 g Puff Pastry, rolled out

  • Approx. 400 g Cheese (Gruyère, Appenzeller, Taleggio, blue cheese, Gouda, Cheddar)

  • 1 Egg

  • Pepper

  • Paprika

  • Chili

  • some Herbs

  • 1 tbsp Flour

  • Ingredients as desired:

  • Ham

  • Bacon

  • Onion

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the ingredient first. Cut the ham into small pieces, or fry the bacon, or glaze the onions with 1 teaspoon of sugar. Put to one side.

Mix the grated cheese with the egg, spices and flour, adding a little milk or yogurt if the mixture is very dry.

Place the rolled-out puff pastry in the baking tin, pull up the sides and prick the base several times with a fork.

Place the ham/bacon or onions on the base or, if chopped, you can also mix them into the cheese mixture.

Step 5

Top with the cheese and smooth down. Bake in the oven at 200 C degrees for approx. 30-40 Minutes.

Notes

Serve it warm or cold.
