Bombay Potatoes – Kartoffeln indische Art

Obwohl dieses Kartoffelgericht aus Indien stammt, passt es auch super zu jedem Gericht aus anderen Ländern. Sie sind wunderbar würzig und ich finde sie gerade zu Fisch wunderbar. Bombay Potatoes sind sehr bekannt in Indien (und nun ueber die ganze Welt hinweg). Sie sind ganz einfach Kartoffelwürfel, die in Gewürzen gebraten werden. Einfach und super gut!

Even though this potato dish is from India it fits perfectly to any dish from anywhere in the world. They are tasty, well seasoned, and I believe, they fit perfect to fish! Bombay potatoes are very well known in India (and now also all over the world). They are cubed potatoes cooked in spices. Super easy and delicious!

Bombay Potatoes

Fuer 4 Personen:
800 g kleine, festkochende Kartoffeln
3 EL Olivenoel
2 EL Kreuzkümmelsamen
1 TL Chilipulver
½ TL Kurkuma
1 Zitrone, den Saft
Salz
Etwas gehackte Petersilie

Die Kartoffeln gut abbürsten und in Klösse schneiden. Das Oel in einer flachen Pfanne erhitzen. Die Kreuzkümmelsamen darin anbraten und sobald sie knacken die Kartoffel zugeben. Zugedeckt ca 10-12 Minuten bräunen, dabei hin und wieder wenden. Nun den Zitronensaft, Chili Pulver und Kurkuma, nach Belieben Salz zugeben und gut mischen. Nochmals ein paar Minuten köcheln lassen, bis der Zitronensaft eingekocht ist. Dann mit gehackter Petersilie bestreuen und servieren.

For 4 Persons:
800 g small, waxy Potatoes
3 tbsp Olive Oil
2 tbsp Cumin Seeds
1 tsp Chili Powder
½ tsp Turmeric
1 Lemon, the Juice
Salt
Some chopped Parsley

Brush the potatoes carefully, then cut them into cubes. Heat the oil in a flat pan and fry the cumin seeds. As soon as they crackle add the potatoes. Cook covered approx. 10-12 minutes, turning them from time to time. Now add the lemon juice, chili powder and turmeric, mix well. Let cook for another few minutes until the juice has reduced. Sprinkle with the chopped parsley and serve.
