Bacon Jam

Bacon jam? Is there such a thing? YES!!!

Bacon jam is versatile. Of course, jam belongs on bread—among other things—but it also belongs IN bread, or in puff pastry, on finger food, etc. There are many possible uses.

It’s clear, this bacon jam is a MUST for bacon lovers! Even if this is an unusual jam you should try it!

Ingredients

  • 800 g Bacon

  • 1 Onion

  • 3 Garlic cloves

  • 100 ml Cider Vinegar

  • 8 tbsp brown Sugar

  • 4 tbsp Honey

  • 170 ml strong Coffee

Instructions

Step 1

Place the bacon slices on a baking sheet and roast in the oven at 220°C for about 20 minutes.

Step 2

Put the rendered bacon fat in a pot and cook the finely chopped onion and garlic cloves until soft.

Step 3

Chop the bacon slices into small pieces and add them to the pot with all the other ingredients. Simmer the jam over low heat for about 3-4 hours until the liquid has almost completely boiled away.

Step 4

Place all ingredients in a blender/mixer and purée briefly. It may still be slightly chunky. Immediately pour into clean jars and seal.

Keep in the fridge! How to use:
– as Spread
– serve with Cheese
– as filling in puff pastry
– on the Burger serviert
– mixed in a Dip
– on Crackers as Finger-food
– as Topping for Baked Potatoes
– on Lettuce leaves in Sandwiches
and many morer!
