Crispy Shrimps with Coconut

Pane-Bistecca
Especially in Asia, everyone goes crazy when it comes to seafood. That’s why I like to serve my crispy prawns with coconut! They are delicious finger food that goes away quickly. You can make it gluten-free or not, it’s up to you.

Seafood contains cholesterol. But if you eat seafood in moderation and not in big quantities, this is not a problem at all. Unfortunately, this is not the case in Asia, where prawns, crabs, etc. are consumed more or less daily. As a result, many Asians have problems with high cholesterol levels.

Squid contains the highest amount of cholesterol per unit weight of all seafood. One portion (about 99 grams) of raw squid contains about 231 mg of cholesterol. This may exceed the daily cholesterol limit.

In addition, the method of preparation (frying, sautéing or grilling) can influence the total cholesterol content per portion. In addition to squid, prawns also contain a lot of cholesterol. A portion of 100 g of raw prawns contains 194 mg of cholesterol.

However, if you don’t eat such quantities every day, you shouldn’t worry.

Ingredients

  • 400 g medium Prawns, cooked, peeled, but leave the tail on and vein removed

  • 2 Eggs

  • 3 tbsp Breadcrumbs (Gluten-free)

  • 100 g grated, dried Coconut

  • Salt and Pepper

  • Oil for frying

  • Sweet Chili Sauce as a Dip

  • Lemon Wedges

Instructions

1

Step 1

Dip the prawns in the breadcrumbs first. They do not need to be completely covered; the breadcrumbs will only make them crispier.
2

Step 2

Beat the eggs and season with salt and pepper. Grab the prawns by the tail and quickly turn them in the egg, then place them in the bowl with the coconut.
3

Step 3

Once you have about 6-8 pieces in there, shake them so that they are all covered with the coconut. Fry in hot oil until golden brown.
4

Step 4

Serve with sweet chili sauce and the lemon wedges.
