Schnell gekochter Sushi Reis – Quickly cooked Sushi Rice

1 Mins read

I made sushi with my daughter Andrea and will enter a small sushi series here on the blog. I start with the rice, because without it there’s no sushi. This is a very simple recipe and can be cooked the day before. The rice must cool anyway and so this is an easy and fast recipe.

Schnell gekochter Sushi Reis

Für Sushi für 4-6 Personen:
500 g Sushi Reis
500 ml Wasser

For Sushi for 4-6 People:
500 g Sushi Rice
500 ml Water
2 tbsp Sushi Rice Vinegar (sweetened)
2 tbsp Sugar
1 tbsp Salt

Put the rice in a sieve and rinse well until the water is clear. It is best to run your fingers through the rice so that all the grains get wet. Put the rice in the pan and add the water. Bring to a boil, then turn the heat to the lowest setting and put the lid on.

Simmer for 15 minutes, then remove from heat but leave lid on for another 10 minutes. Meanwhile, gently heat the Rice Vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan until the sugar has melted (can also be done in the microwave) then mix with the rice and allow the rice to cool completely.
