Kartoffel-Pfannen Gratin – Potato Pot au Gratin

2 Mins read

I have a special Paella pan and use it for far more dishes than just Paella. Honestly, if I would use it only for Paella I would not have bought it! As the pan has no plastic handles, it can be used in the oven for grilling, roasting, gratinee or even for baking.
I made a potato gratin in it and it was so easy!

Kartoffel-Pfannen Gratin

Fuer 4 Personen:
1 Zwiebel, fein gehackt
3 Knoblauchzehen, fein gehackt
100 g Speckwuerfel, ganz klein geschnitten
etwas Olivenoel
100 ml Milch
100 ml Sahne
Salz und Pfeffer
Paprika
Muskatnuss
Rosmarin
800 g festkochende Kartoffeln
1/2 Bund Petersilie, gehackt
1/2 rote Pepperoni, klein gehackt
Reibkaese

Heiss servieren.

For 4 Persons:
1 Onion, finely chopped
3 cloves of Garlic, chopped
100 g Bacon bits
some Olive Oil
100 ml Milk
100 ml Cooking Cream
Salt and Pepper
Paprika
Nutmeg
Rosemary
800 g waxy Potatoes
1/2 Bunch Parsley, chopped
1/2 red Capsicum, chopped
grated Cheese

Heat some Olive oil in the pan and fry the onion and garlic with the bacon bits in it.
Add the milk and cooking cream and season well.
Now grate the potatoes with a thin slicer directly into the pan. Mix well. All the potatoes should be submerged in the liquid, if there is not enough add more milk. The milk will bind with the natural starch of the potatoes and get very creamy. That’s why you NEVER wash the sliced potatoes when making a gratin!
Now add the chopped parsley and the capsicum, sprinkle with grated cheese and bake in the oven at 200 C for 40-50 minutes. Serve hot!
