Chäs Wähie - typisch Schweiz!

Cheese Pie – typical Swiss!

Pane-Bistecca
When the word Switzerland is mentioned in Asian, everyone immediately shouts cheese, chocolate and watches. I start from the beginning and take the cheese. A Chäs Wähie (cheese pie) is a MUST in Switzerland!

A Chäs Wähie (cheese pie) is a MUST in Switzerland! Pies are very traditional there anyway, there are sweet and hearty types. Often the sweet ones are a Zvieri (snack at 4pm with coffee), while the savory ones are whole meals. It is like everywhere in the world that every Swiss housewife has her own recipe, and hers is always the best! For the Chäs Wähie, the cheese mixture is crucial.

My mom always made it with Emmenthaler cheese, which I don’t like at all, but my dad loved it. So, I never ate this pie! Only later, when I had to cook myself, I found “my” mixture.
