Quick Whole Wheat Bread Rolls for the WBD 2024

Pane-Bistecca
It’s World Bread Day again, organized by Zorra from Kochtopf for the 19th time. I baked very simple, quick whole wheat bread rolls for it, which look and taste great.

Bread in a hurry, well, quick is relative, because the dough has to rest, but these rolls are actually quick to make. How you decorate them or arrange them for baking is up to you. I made mine into a wreath and topped them with sesame and chia seeds. They are not only beautiful, but they also fit on every Party table or to any breakfast. These bread rolls are particularly suitable for the weekend or when you have visitors for dinner!

Here is the Round-up of this Event!

I participated already 2020 with the Pumpkin Bread, 2021 the Flaxseed Bread, 2022 the Grain Baguette and 2023 Italian Breakfast Rolls.

Ingredients

  • 500 g whole wheat Flour

  • 7 g dried Yeast

  • 300 ml warm Water

  • 3 tbsp Sunflower Oil

  • 5 g Salt

  • Chia Seeds and Sesame for Decoration

Instructions

1

Step 1

I cheekily had the dough kneaded in the bread maker, where it can also rise because it is slightly warmed. You can also knead the dough in a food processor, cover and leave to rise in a warm place for about 1.5 hours. Alternatively, knead the dough by hand until it is no longer sticky and then cover and leave to rise in a warm place for approx. 1.5 hours.
2

Step 2

Knead the dough again briefly and then cut into 8 or more equal pieces.
3

Step 3

4

Step 4

Preheat the oven to 250 C degrees.
5

Step 5

Sprinkle the buns with the seeds as desired, place on a baking tray, cover and leave to rise for another 20 minutes.
6

Step 6

Bake in the oven at 250 C degrees for 10 minutes, spraying the sides and base of the oven well with water. Reduce the heat to 220 C degrees, release the steam and bake for a further 20 minutes.

Notes

Crispy and delicious.
