Schweizer Schoggiguetsli – Swiss Chocolate Cookies

2 Mins read

Soon it is 1st of August, the Swiss National Day! Even though we have been living abroad we are still patriots in our hearts. That’s why we are always celebrating these special days. And the 1st of August is being celebrated by eating Swiss food! That’s why I bring you this cookie recipe, so you can already bake it as you can keep it up to 4 weeks – if the family doesn’t eat them first! Switzerland is a chocolate country, very famous for its yummy chocolates. So of course, I need to include chocolate. And as you can see, I even found the perfect cookie cutter!! So, let’s do it!

Fuer ca 70 Ausstechkekse:
250 g Butter
310 g Zucker
3 Eier
1 TL Vanille Extrakt
70 g ungesuesstes Kakaopulver
1/2 TL Salz
430 g Mehl
1 TL Backpulver

For approx 70 cut-out cookies:
250 g Butter
310 g Sugar
3 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
70 g unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
430 g Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder

Make a dough with these ingredients. Cool the dough in the fridge for 2 hours. The dough is quite soft, so it’s a little fussy to cut it out. That’s why I would suggest to take a very simple cutter or use a ravioli cutter for a simple square cookie. Of course I wanted it to be difficult… and used a Switzerland cutter.
Roll the dough out on some flour to approx 5 mm and cut the cookies. Put them onto a baking tray and bake at 180 C for 12 minutes. Let them cool down completely. The cookies are very nice and chocolaty, just real Swiss!
