Schweizer Kaesewaehe mit Spinat – Swiss Cheese Pie with Spinach

2 Mins read

Cheese and spinach go very well together, that’s what I think.
So I baked a hearty pie with a lot of cheese and spinach. As a cheese mixture I used a half and half Fondue mixture from the Swiss cheese shops.
These Fondue mixtures are perfect for so many other things, not just Fondue. You can use it for this cheese and spinach pie, or for the famous Swiss cheese slices with a pear on it, or as a filling for the little finger-food vol-au-vents, or just on a piece of bread with a slice of tomato.
There are so many possibilities.

Schweizer Kaesewaehe mit Spinat

Fuer 4 Personen:
1 Packung moitié-moitié Fondue Mischung fuer 2 Personen
1 Zwiebel, fein gehackt
2 Handvoll frischen Spinat
2 Eier
150 g Halbfettquark
Salz und Pfeffer
Paprika
Muskatnuss

For 4 Persons:
1 Pack moitié-moitié Fondue Mixture for 2 Persons
1 Onion, chopped
2 Handful fresh Spinach
2 Eggs
150 g half fat Curd or Creme fraiche
Salt and Pepper
Paprika
Nutmeg
1 rolled out Puff Pastry for a pie dish

Put the puff pastry into the pie dish, pull the sides up and pinch the bottom with a fork, so it will not rise during baking.
Mix the cheese with the chopped onion, the eggs, the spinach and curd, then season very well. Don’t use too much salt as the cheese is already salty, but you can add as much pepper as you like.
Spread this onto the pastry.
Bake in the oven at 200 C for 40 minutes.
You can eat the pie warm or cold, but freshly baked and still warm is the best!
