Mango und Apfel Gonfi – Mango and Apple Jam

2 Mins read

Last Saturday we were invited to a BBQ at a friend’s house and the first I saw was a huge basket full of ripe mangos. I saw and gaped at them, so my friend said, „They are from my garden, com’on, I show you the tree!” The wonderful tree was hanging full of unripe fruits, the first ripe ones were already fallen off. But I could prophecy it would bring at least another 20 kg of fruits! I received a basket full of fruits to take home and I made jam with them. But not without trying them first! I mixed in some apples, because they add the pectin needed. (And I also took some unripe ones, I love them very much!)

Mango und Apfel Gonfi

Für 4 Gläser:
650 g Mango, Steine und Haut entfernt
350 g Äpfel, geschält und entkernt
700 g Zucker

For 4 Jars:
650 g Mango, Skin and Seed removed
350 g Apple, peeled and deseeded
700 g Sugar
2 Lime, the Juice

Puree the mango and put them into a pot. Puree the apple with the lime juice and add to the pot. Heat up and add the sugar. Bring to a boil and cook for 5-8 minutes. Be careful, if it boils it spits, you can burn yourself. Make the plate test: give 1 tsp of the jam onto a cold plate and tilt it, if it runs slowly, the jam is cooked. Fill the jam into clean jars and close tightly!
