Suedafrikanischer Broccolisalat – South African Broccoli Salad

1 Mins read

On one of our travels to South Africa we got served a very tasty and refreshing broccoli salad. It was a meal with many small dishes, all traditional South African. We ordered more of this salad, as we all loved it so much! At home, I immediately went onto my task to copy the salad; I needed several trials until I succeeded with the exact taste.  Since then this is one of our favorite salads!

500 g Broccoli
100 g Sonnenblumenkerne
150 g Sultanas
50 g Mandelplaettchen
150 g Speck gehackt

Fuer die Salatsauce:
150 g griechischer Yoghurt
2 EL Mayonaise (oder Miracle Whip)
1 TL Honig
3 EL Essig
den Saft einer Zitrone
etwas Meersalz
Ingwerpulver
Cuminpulver
Korianderpulver
Muskatnuss
schwarzer Pfeffer

500 g Broccoli
100 g Sunflower Seeds
150 g Sultanas
50 g Almond Flakes
150 g Bacon, chopped

For the Salad Sauce:
150 g Greek Yogurt
2 tbsp Mayonnaise (or Miracle Whip)
1 tsp Honey
3 tbsp Vinegar
The Juice of 1 Lemon
some Sea-salt
Ginger Powder
Cumin Powder
Coriander Powder
Nutmeg
black Pepper

Fry the bacon until crisp. Meanwhile cut the Broccoli into very small pieces; don’t forget to peel the stems, as the skin makes it hard to digest! Now add the sultanas, sunflower seeds, almond flakes and mix well.  Mix the salad sauce together and pour over the salad. Let marinate for 30 minutes. This salad is perfect to grilled meats and fish. The sauce fits well to any vegetable Salads!
