Ich habe damit eine Marroni Suppe gekocht. Sie sind eine uralte Frucht, die schon vor der Zeit der Roemer gerne verspiesen wurde. Die Roemer haben aber den Baum vor allem f\u00fcr sein Holz kultiviert, aus dem sie Weinf\u00e4sser bauten. Sie sind auch diejenigen, die den Baum weiterverbreitet haben, nach Spanien, Portugal, Frankreich und der Schweiz. Noch im 19. JH waren viele tausende von Bauern abh\u00e4ngig von der Kastanie, um zu \u00fcberleben. Giovanni Pascoli nannte die Kastanie \u201eden italienischen Brotbaum\u201c, denn es war lange Zeit das Grundnahrungsmittel vieler Bergbauern in Norditalien.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ich habe Marroni sehr, sehr gerne und ich kann an keinem Marronistand in der Schweiz vorbei gehen, ohne welche zu kaufen. Der Geruch alleine lockt mich an wie die Musik des Rattenf\u00e4ngers von Hameln. Aber hier in Asien ist das etwas schwieriger. Fr\u00fcher gab es fahrende H\u00e4ndler, die sie auf Kohle kochten und verkauften, aber seit ein paar Jahren sind diese H\u00e4ndler verschwunden. Doch Marroni kann man gut kaufen, so habe ich damit eine Suppe gekocht.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">************<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Marroni are the sweet edible chestnuts, which are mostly grown in Italy and south Switzerland. <\/em><em>They are a very ancient fruit, which has been eaten since before the Romans did. The Romans used the tree mostly for timber to build their casks for their wine. They are the ones to bring the tree to other countries like Spain, Portugal, France and Switzerland. Still in the 19<sup>th<\/sup> century thousands of farmers were relying on the chestnut to survive. Giovanni Pascoli called the chestnut \u201ethe Italian bread tree\u201c because for a very long time the chestnut was the main food of the rural farmers diet in north Italy. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>I love love love marroni! I cannot walk past a marroni seller in Switzerland without buying some. <\/em><em>The smell is like a magnet form e! But here in Asia it is not as common. <\/em><em>Before we had some street sellers <\/em><em>who roasted them on coal, but they have disappeared. <\/em><em>But one can buy the chestnuts here and cook them. So, I made a chestnut soup! <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pane-bistecca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/mar12-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Marroni Suppe\" class=\"wp-image-8705\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">F\u00fcr 6 Personen:<br>400 g gekochte Marroni<br>1 Lauch<br>20 g Butter<br>100 ml Weisswein<br>800 ml Gem\u00fcsebr\u00fche<br>Muskat<br>Pfeffer und Salz<br>Paprika<br>Wenig Zimt<br>Chili Pulver<br>Schnittlauch zur Dekoration<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Den Lauch in d\u00fcnne Scheiben schneiden und in der geschmolzenen Butter in einem Topf anschwitzen. Die Marroni zugeben und mit kochen. Mit dem Weisswein abl\u00f6schen. Alles sehr gut w\u00fcrzen. Marroni sind leicht s\u00fcsslich, deshalb darf man ruhig richtig viel Pfeffer und Chili zugeben. Die Br\u00fche dazu giessen und alles 20 Minuten k\u00f6cheln lassen. Dann die Suppe p\u00fcrieren und mit etwas Schnittlauch dekoriert servieren.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">************<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>For 6 Persons:<\/em><br><em>400 g cooked Marroni\/Chestnuts<\/em><br><em>1 Leek<\/em><br><em>20 g Butter<\/em><br><em>100 ml White Wine<\/em><br><em>800 ml Vegetable Broth<\/em><br><em>Nutmeg<\/em><br><em>Pepper and Salt<\/em><br><em>Paprika<\/em><br><em>A little Cinnamon<\/em><br><em>Chili Powder<\/em><br><em>Chives for decoration<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Cut the leek into small slices and fry them in the butter in a pot. Add the marroniand cook for a little. Then add the white wine and reduce a little. Season very well. The marroni are slightly sweet, so you can really add lots of pepper and chili! Add the broth and let simmer for 20 minutes.
