Traditionell war am Freitag Waehentag, da die Katholiken an diesem Tag kein Fleisch assen. Und man kann bei W\u00e4hen alle Reste aufbrauchen. Bei uns gabs in der Kindheit oft am Freitag W\u00e4hen. Dabei machte meine Mutter gerne Schwiizer Oepfelwaehie. Das gab&#8217;s als Dessert, mit \u00c4pfeln frisch vom Baum.<br>Diese Apfelwaehe ist aus geriebenen \u00c4pfeln, so wie es die B\u00e4uerin, die keine Zeit hatte\/hat, lange die Apfelscheiben sch\u00f6n anzurichten, gemacht hat. Meine Tante, die einen Bauernhof hatte, buck die W\u00e4he im Kachelofen. Sie schob sie alle am Morgen in den Ofen rein und am Mittag waren sie gekocht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">************<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Switzerland is well known for its pies. Traditionally Friday was pie day, as the catholic would not eat meat. And, because you could use up all leftovers. As a child I remember, we often had on Fridays as dessert apple pie with fresh apples from the garden.<\/em><br><em>This apple pie is made with grated apples, the way farmers did it. The farmer\u2019s wife didn&#8217;t have time to arrange the apple slices nicely onto the dough. My auntie, who owned a farm, baked them in the tiled stove ; she put them in in the morning before going to the fields and by lunch time they were ready to eat.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pane-bistecca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/apf7-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Schwiizer Oepfelwaehie\" class=\"wp-image-1450\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">&nbsp;Fuer eine runde Waehe von ca 35 cm Durchmesser:<br>1 rund ausgewallter Blaetterteig<br>1 kg Aepfel, ich bevorzuge saure Aepfel zB. Boskop<br>1 Zitrone, den Saft<br>2 Eier<br>1 EL Mehl<br>2 EL brauner Zucker<br>1\/2 TL Zimt<br>3 EL gemalene Mandeln oder Haselnuesse<br>1 EL gehackte Mandeln oder Haselnuesse<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Den Zitronensaft in eine Schuessel geben.<br>Die Aepfel schaehlen un d auf der groben Reibe direkt in die Schuessel reiben. Den Zucker, Zimt, das Mehl, die Eier und die gemalenen Nuesse dazu geben und alles gut mischen.<br>Den Teig in die Waehenform geben und die Seiten hochziehen. Mit einer Gabel den Boden mehrfach einstechen. Dann die Fuellung darauf geben. Mit den gehackten Nuessen bestreuen.<br>Die Waehe im Ofen bei 200 C Grad 40-50 Minuten backen.<br>Die Waehe kann lauwarm oder Kalt gegessen werden. Serviert sie mit etwas Vanille Eis oder geschlagener Sahne!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">************<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>For a pie of approx. 35 cm diameter:<\/em><br><em>1 rolled out Puff pastry to a size a bit bigger than the pie dish<\/em><br><em>1 kg Apples, I prefer sour ones, in Switzerland we have Boskop, in England it would be a Bramley Apple<\/em><br><em>Juice of 1 Lemon<\/em><br><em>2 Eggs<\/em><br><em>1 tbsp Flour<\/em><br><em>2 tbsp brown Sugar<\/em><br><em>1\/2 tsp Cinnamon<\/em><br><em>3 tbsp ground Almonds or Hazelnuts<\/em><br><em>1 tbsp chopped Almonds or Hazelnuts<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>&nbsp;<\/em><br><em>Pour the lemon juice into a bowl.<\/em><br><em>Peel the apples and grate them on a coarse grater directly into the bowl with the lemon juice. Then add sugar, cinnamon, eggs, flour and the ground nuts and mix well.<\/em><br><em>Put the dough into the pie dish and pull the sides up. Then pinch the bottom with a fork several times to avoid the dough from bubbling up. Pour the filling on top, flatten and sprinkle with the chopped nuts.<\/em><br><em>Bake in the oven at 200 C for 40-50 minutes.<\/em><br><em>You can serve the pie warm or cold.
